MACS lift / Face Lift Surgery

The MACS (Minimal Access Cranial Suspension) lift is an uncomplicated and effective face-lift operation that is projected to lift the lower two thirds of the face in a relatively simple manner with the smallest nuisance for the patient. Only a limited amount of excess skin needs to be removed; thusly, there will be nothing but an inconspicuous scar in the crease in the front of the ear and in the hairline above the ear after the whole procedure is done.

The MACS-lift implies less undermining of the skin than the traditional facelift and does not entail the exposure of the facial nerves. In truth, the extent of skin damage is possibly 50 per cent less than that of the traditional facelift. The MACS lift is also quicker since it takes an average of two hours to be performed compared to the four to five hours required for a traditional lift.

What Can I Expect

Submitting yourself to a Macs face lift is a certified way to help you boost your confidence and to improve your features. Keep in mind that a face lift is designed to enhance, not to provide perfection. It can’t change your looks completely, nor can it provide the vitality of youth. Even though certain types of wrinkles can be reduced or eliminated, some wrinkles can actually be permanent and may not be able to be corrected with plastic surgery. Therefore, if your outlook is realistic and you are searching for an augment in your appearance, this type of surgery is the one for you.

The results of a MACS facelift can differ depending on race, sex, age, weight, skin type or preceding exposure to sun, among other factors. Please feel free to discuss these issues with your surgeon before undertaking the operation. Your plastic surgeon will help determine what is best for you.

HCR connects you with one of the best teams of certified surgeons in the industry and we are therefore aware of the different types of needs our diverse patients have. But no matter what you are looking for, we will provide you with the best service and aid you in every possible way in your pursuit to enhance your appearance.

If you have good facial skin elasticity, are in good physical health and are looking to improve the appearance of your face and neck, a MACS face lift is the perfect plastic surgery for you.

The Procedure

This MACS lift surgery takes place similarly to a traditional facelift; nonetheless, your surgeon will limit the incision to the skin hairline junction above the ear and anterior to the ear. No extension behind the ear is necessary. Your doctor will use permanent suspension sutures to elevate the underlying tissue. These pass down to the neck, jowls and cheek fat pad. In contrast to many other facelifts which do not include significant mid face elevation, the MACS lift elevates the malar fat pad reducing the nasolabial folds.

In most cases, liposuction surgery is performed to the neck area below the angle of the mandible; this helps to remove excess fat here and to release the skin to allow it to be re-draped by the suspension sutures.

The MACS lift produces results at least the same, or by and large, better than a conventional facelift. It is idyllically suited for younger patients with a sagging mid face. In cases where there is an evident sagging of the neck, it may be necessary in some cases to make an incision posterior to the ear to take up this slack, although in this is not necessary most of the time.

When preparing for your surgery in Costa Rica, HCR will make sure to provide all the best possible services during your procedure. We will arrange for your transport and will offer the best commodities during your recovery. All this can be arranged previously with our organization.

If you have any questions, our surgeons will be more than happy to help you during your initial discussion.

BEFORE
AFTER

Post-Op – After Surgery

You can expect to be up and about within a couple of days, but you should try to take things slow within the first week after the surgery. You must be extra-careful with your face, since your skin will be extremely tender and unfeeling. Try to avoid strenuous activities (such as sex, exercise or heavy housework) for at least a couple to weeks. Drinking alcohol, saunas or steam baths should be avoided for a few months. Concerning work, most clients usually return to their jobs around 10 to 15 days after the operation..

You may experience some bruising, especially around your eyes. This can be treated with special creams prescribed by your HCR Surgeon. It is recommended for you to refrain from social engagements for around two weeks following your operation, although it may take a little longer before you feel confident enough to face the world again. If you are susceptible to fluid retention, you may find that some swelling persists for a few months after your operation.

During the first few days, your face might feel and look rather strange. Keep in mind that due to the swelling, your appearance may appear to be distorted while your facial gestures may be somewhat rigid and your scars may cause you to feel ill at ease. Since the bruising may take up to 2 to 3 weeks to completely disappear, you might not be in your best spirits and may feel a little disappointed with the procedure.

But you must allow yourself to recover from the process and by the third week, you will feel much better as your face heals properly and the results of the surgery will be much more evident.

Health Issues

Complications are rare and usually minor after a MACS lift is performed. However, a person’s anatomy varies from individual to individual, as well as their physical reactions; this is why their healing capacity and outcomes are never entirely predictable and you should keep this in mind during recovery.

Because a MACS lift involves less skin undermining (lifting the skin from the muscle) than a traditional facelift and does not affect the SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System), damage to your facial nerves is unlikely. Infection is uncommon, but in the case of its’ occurrence, it is treated with antibiotics during a five day period.

Make sure to ask your surgeon concerning any risks you might have to face when undertaking this surgery. However, you must keep in mind that our certified group of doctors works full-time to prevent such scenarios from happening, since we value the health of our patients above anything else.

In order to keep the risks at a bare minimum, please make sure that you follow your surgeons instructions at all times.
